Xenai Alshain was born in 2375 on the Eolc colony on the planet Rh'ause, A jungle world on the edge of Romulan space, about four hours at warp 7 from Deep Space five.

She felt suffacated by the culture and austerity of her people and yearned to get away. Influenced by federation ideals, and romantic tales of great explorations, Xenai decided to leave.

At the age of 17 she ran from home to join starfleet under the pretence that she was vulcan. To accuratly portray her new counterfeit identity, Xenai under went several DNA altering treatments to soften and adjust her harsh romulan features. Hiding behind her Vulacan fasade, she excelled academicly, but struggled immensely emotionally.

Conflicted with her past and present, she withdrew from the world around her. She found an outlet in her studies, in martial arts, and in flight. She chose to major in engineering, finding clarity and peace among phase regulators and warp coils.

An unexpected physical in her third year proved the truth. Embarrassed, disgraced, failed, she contemplated returning home. But that wasnt an acceptable option. Romulan culture revolves around honour and faith. She had betrayed her family her culture and her species. She had joined the enemy.

Xenai had chosen her path, there was nothing left but to see it through. Deciding there was also nothing left to hide, she had the facial reconstruction of her vulcan identity reversed, keeping the green eyes as a momento. As time progressed, she grew more comfortable with her new home. Learning to ignore the wayward glances and hushed comments, she began to accept herself and her inherant nature.

Ensign Alshain continued her service in starfleet. Graduating from the academy, she began training on the USS Foere. When a position opened on the SSF ship USS Chimera, she readily excepted, hoping she would find the excitement and freedom she had yearned for as a child.
