BACKGROUND: Jack Geiger was born in Chesapeake, Virginia, Earth on SD 237111.20. He is the first of his family to join Starfleet. His mother and father run an old style German Pub in Chesapeake called "Geiger's". Jack spent many days and nights at the pub, usually studying in the back or helping out when his studies weren't getting in the way. When he wasn't studying or working, he was having a good time, especially when he was in the Academy, showing his friends a good time at the pub.

He was accepted to Starfleet Academy in 2389 on his first try. Jack majored in psychology and minored in data analysis. It was his intention to work for Starfleet Intelligence upon graduating from the Academy. After four years of nearly non-stop studying, taking extra classes during the summer semesters, Jack graduated third in the class of 2393. Commissioned as an Ensign, Jack was given the oppurtunity to take advance studies and earn his doctorate in his field of study. It only took him two years to complete that task.

Because of his wide area if expertise in Data Analysis, Jack was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade and recruited into Starfleet Intelligence in 2395 by Commodore Matthew Hunter who had taught Jack at the Academy for one semester. Jack was unaware that Hunter had taken interest in him, and it wasn't until Jack was recruited into the Special Forces that he'd find out.

Jack's first assignment in Starfleet Intelligence was as a junior analyst at Starfleet Command Headquarters. He was given the oppurtunity to attend field operative training, but Jack felt he would be more useful working in his field of study, so he opted for the Analyst path. For the most part, Jack remained in San Francisco deciphering lines and lines of code that came in from all around the Alpha and Beta quadrants. Jack had a knack for being the fastest code cracker among his group of friends. His Commanding Officer eventually took notice, and in 2397, he was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned as team lead for his department.

Soon after Jack's promotion to Lieutenant, his Commanding Officer thought it was time for Jack to take a position in the field. In late 2397, Jack was assigned to Deep Space Six as an Intelligence Analyst, third in command of the Intelligence Office on the Ournal class station. It was here that Jack became an expert in Romulan Code, as that was the most widely form of intercepted messages in that area. Three months later, Jack was given another oppurtunity to attend field operative training, but once again turned it down in favour of a desk job.

So far, Jack had been all work and very little play. He had had a few brief romantic encounters during his time on Deep Space Six, but for the most part, Jack was only focused on his job, and thats the way he prefered it. He had earned a reputation as being an outstanding officer. Professionally competent with a lack of self-confidence, Jack was considered a clumsy idiot outside the work place. With a sense of humour of a goofball, Jack always tripped his way through his personal life. Thus, he prefered to always work, usually sleeping during his off hours, or at least trying to catch up on sleep.

In early 2400, Jack was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, taking over as second in command of the Deep Space Six Intelligence Office. He continued in that position until early 2002 when he was paid a visit by now Vice Admiral Matthew Hunter. Hunter had continued to keep an eye on Jack over the years, and when Hunter was tasked with taking over the newly formed Starfleet Special Forces, he wanted Jack running one of the SSF's Intelligence teams.

Jack's head told him to graciously refuse the Admiral's offer, but his gut told him to go for it. So, Jack was pulled out of Starfleet Intelligence and sent to Starbase Bragg, the newly constructed Mir Class station that was home to the Special Forces, and attended Special Forces training. What followed was six months of hell. At times, Jack didn't think he was going to make it, but the Admiral was always there to push him along. Jack managed to earn his Special Forces tab the first time around, and a promoted to full Commander along with it. Jack's first assignment was as Team Leader aboard Starbase 514. Though all SSFI assignments are temporary, Jack and his team were stationed on 514 for almost six months.

Jack's main mission on 514 was to monitor Cardassian and Breen movements. The Cardassians remained rather quiet, but the Breen were stirring up the pot. It was during his assignment to 514 that Jack discovered the Breen were re-building their military, and planning to strike hard on the Federation. Jack also discovered that the Breen were getting help, but he didn't know who from. Based on Jack's Intelligence, Admiral Hunter ordered a task force led by General Pete Mitchell to infiltrate Breen space and stop their re-militarization. General Mitchell thought it was important for Jack to be the Intelligence Specialist for the campaign, and decided to make him tag along during the missions. Jack managed to escape without a scratch on him, but just barely.

With the Breen Campaign a success, Jack was granted leave by Admiral Hunter for no set ammount of time. Jack decided to take a visit to the Gamma Quadrant and ended up on Xonnel Colony. A rather strange choice for R&R, Jack found himself smack dab in the middle of an invasion by an unknown enemy force. Jack was able to lend his skills as an Analyst to the CO of Xonnel, Captain Dana Ripley. Jack had managed to form a sort of crush on the Captain, and was rather delighted when they were on the same transport out of Xonnel, Jack's R&R finished, and Captain Ripley en route to be re-assigned.

When Jack arrived back on Bragg, he was called into the Admiral's office. Hunter informed Jack that he wanted him to go through Advanced Tactical Training, then take a tour of duty aboard a Starship. Jack protested, but when Admiral Hunter told him he'd be assigned to the newly commissioned USS Rodger Young as Chief of Tactical and Security under the command of Captain Dana Ripley, Jack quickly changed his mind and jumped at the chance of the extra training. Two months later, Jack found himself reporting aboard the Rodger Young for its shake down voyage.

The Shakedown cruise didn’t go as planned. The Rodger Young was diverted to search for the missing USS Osiris, which had been attacked and left a drift by an unknown species. A skeleton team from the Rodger Young was sent over to the Osiris to investigate what happened and get the ship up and running again. In the process, the ship was pulled into another dimension by a special anomaly. The Rodger Young crew aboard the Osiris managed to get the ship up and running and discover the whereabouts of the missing Osiris crew. After a rescue mission and battle with the unknown species, Jack and his crewmates were able to get the Osiris back to it’s own dimension.

Upon returning to their own dimension, the Rodger Young headed back to Earth for a debriefing and some R&R. Jack returned home to Chesapeake to visit with his parents. He was also able to spend a considerable amount of time with Captain Dana Ripley, the Rodger Young’s now former CO who Jack was now falling for. Ripley had told Jack that she wouldn’t be returning to the Rodger Young, and would be remaining on Earth. Jack decided to tell Ripley of his true feelings for her, and was relieved to find out she felt the same way. Both of them agreed that it was worth a shot to attempt a relationship together even though they’d be apart. After a romantic night spent in Naples, Italy, Jack parted ways with Ripley and returned to his duties aboard the Rodger Young.

As the Rodger Young left Earth for Starbase 742, Jack was in a grumpy mood, having left Ripley behind on Earth. Little did he know that she had been re-assigned to the Rodger Young as an Ambassador and diplomatic Advisor to the command crew. Upon discovering this, Jack was back to his old cheerful self and eager to continue his duties aboard the Sovereign Class vessel as Chief Tactical Officer.

After two more missions aboard the Rodger Young, Jack’s tour was complete. He had successfully completed a year of duty in the field that Admiral Hunter had requested of him. With the Rodger Young undergoing a change in command, Jack took that as the perfect opportunity to part ways with the Sovereign class ship and head back to Starbase Bragg and to Special Forces Intelligence.

He was assigned a desk job in SSFI Command as Senior Analyst for the Department, reporting directly to Brigadier General Zanchin and Colonel Eagles. Shortly after, Colonel Eagles transferred out of SSFI to Special Forces Group 2, taking command of it. General Zanchin, with Admiral Hunter’s approval, promoted Jack to Deputy Director, SSFI. General Zanchin then took a transfer to the 5th Fleet as Deputy Commander, leaving the position of Director, SSFI open. Admiral Hunter assigned Jack as Director of Intelligence, SSF on SD 240411.14, a promotion to Captain accompanying it.

Jack Geiger is currently the Director of SSFI, and holds the rank of Captain. He is still involved with Captain Dana Ripley, Political Officer to SSF Command.
